The Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon® is an instrument that supports plants and trees to survive in difficult circumstances without using groundwater or electricity. It collects water by catching rainwater, and also by producing and catching water from condensation. It subsequently distributes the collected water over an extended period, to the tree growing in the center of the Waterboxx plantcocoon®. Furthermore, it stimulates the capillary formation of the soil; prevents the evaporation of groundwater; steadies the temperature around the roots; fights competitive weeds near the planted tree; and can even prevent damage by rodents. In this way, the Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon® stimulates optimal growth of the young tree.

The Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon® has over 90% survival rate and over 90% less water use

The patented Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon® is a solution to raise water efficiency in agriculture. The UN published a dramatic report about the world’s water situation, expecting water supply of 2.9 billion people in 48 countries to fall short of needs in as little as 10 years. In most of those countries over 80% of the water is used for agricultural purposes where most of the water is irrigated with drip irrigation. However, drip irrigation is a sniper water killer:

It uses 15 to 50 litres per tree per day. That looks little, but it means that one hectare of grapes with 2,500 plants uses 37,500 litres of water each day. (one acre with 1,000 plants uses 3,750 gallons each day). If water was priced at its costprice, growers could not produce crops with drip irrigation; 50% Of the given quantity of water through drip irrigation evaporates; In nature dry soil is white. That is not a coincidence, it cools the soil. However, the water from drip irrigation makes the soil black, so it heats up terribly; The black color creates ideal circumstances for root diseases like phytophtora, pythium and fusarium = high mortality; The diseases require treatments with pesticides, so drip irrigation leads to unhealthy food; and the pesticides are expensive to use; It also causes salination of the soil – slowly the salt level rises, until the soil is too salty for trees/plants to grow; fertile soil is slowly being destroyed; Trees then die all and have to be replaced, sometimes including the soil; or growers leave the area, e.g. the Central Valley along Highway 5 between San Francisco and Los Angeles; Cities have incredibly high costs of investment of the expensive grid structure, eternal pumps use, maintenance and replacement of expensive tubes;

Drip Irrigation VS Groasis Waterboxx

Drip Irrigation

Waterboxx Plantcacoon Qualities

  • When using the Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon®, the tree is planted just below the surface of the soil, so that the capillary soil stays intact and is not destroyed by digging a deep planting hole.
  • In the middle of the Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon®, there is a cylinder with an open bottom where a seed, seedling or small tree can be planted.
  • This plant can develop its roots under the Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon®.
  • The Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon® produces artificial condensation.
  • It collects rain water.
  • It distributes this collected water to the plant in small quantities on a daily basis.
  • It stimulates the rise of capillary water to the surface of the soil under the Groasis Waterboxx plantcocoon®.
  • It prevents the evaporation of capillary water.
  • It prevents the development of weeds near the new plant.
  • It prevents the grazing by a number of smaller rodents such as hares and rabbits.
